Storyline 1970s roller-skate jams fuel this coming-of-age comedy, as X and his friends, who rule their local rink, are shocked when their home base goes out of business. Heading over to the Sweetwater Roller Rink, they find their modest talents are, at first, no competition for their trick skaters and pretty girls who follow their every move.

When Curtis gives X his new pair of skates, the packaging says "Sure Grip" but when he opens it you can clearly see the Riedell Orange "R" symbol on the heel of the skate. For one, the two skate brands do not match up, and also, the skate is a modern Riedell model not produced in the 70s.

Exactly as Advertised!

We saw Roll Bounce this afternoon. It was exactly what I expected it to
be. A predictable, exaggerated, silly, corny, inauthentic 70's
nostalgia-fest.
We loved it! Seriously, it's probably in our top five for the year thus
far. It was so much fun. Even the dramatic, serious moments were good
and not laughable. My husband said afterwards he was thinking how funny
it was that an emotional scene in an otherwise fluffy, insubstantial
feel-good movie could evoke more feeling in him than all two hours of
The Constant Gardener, for example.
Anyhow, we've both been a good mood ever since, we just had a great
time at the movies. It was nice to see a good, clean, wholesome family
movie that doesn't suck.
